Homework

Homework is set at the discretion of class teachers but we ask parents to bear in mind the following points:

a) Homework is meant to supplement school work, not substitute it.

b) One of the main benefits of homework is the greater awareness that parents can gain of what is being taught at school.

c) Homework should not be an onerous task in time and quantity. Written homework should be absolutely minimal in junior years, with gradual increase in Senior Primary years so that study routines can be established for High School.

d) Students generally should spend BRIEF periods at home revising spelling and tables, reading, researching and completing unfinished work in some cases.

e) Additional study tasks set by parents, with the best of intentions, can sometimes lead to children's negative attitude towards their weaker subjects. Extensive homework is rarely a cure for weakness.
