Welcome back to the returning students and families of Beechwood PS and welcome to the new students and families! I hope you had a chance to relax and unwind and enjoy some family time over the break!
The following is an outline of the topics and some brief organizational information:
English-Reading
This term work will be based around the theme of Friendships and Relationships. Students will be completing a unit on Charlotte's Web and focusing on the friendships and relationships throughout the novel. Students will also be provided with opportunities to read texts at their own level and of their own choice. Students may like to bring books from home, borrow from the local or school library for independent reading time.
Writing
Students will be engaged in a variety of writing tasks throughout the term. They will be taught specific handwriting, spelling and grammar skills.
Mathematics
For Mathematics this term we will be learning about: Whole Number, Addition, Subtraction, Patterns and Algebra, Length, Time, Position, Data and Chance. During Maths sessions, students will also complete "Fast Maths" and Problem Solving activities.
History
This Semester, the topic is "First Contact". Students will learn about exploration and life in Australia before the arrival of Europeans for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
Library
Library is on Thursday mornings from 9-10. Mrs Arentsen will be taking the class during this time. Students are encouraged to bring a library bag and borrow books each Thursday.
Science
Science will be on Wednesdays from 12.00-1.00 with Miss Pollard. Students will be studying "Information" and how technology has changed over time.

Library: Thursdays 9-10
Swimming: Thursdays 11.30-12.30
3/4 Assembly Item: Friday 6th April (week 10), 10-11am.
